The Khudozhestvenny Cinema
Khudozhestvenny is one of the world’s oldest cinemas, first opened in 1909. It hosted the premiere of Sergei Eisenstein’s legendary Battleship Potemkin and has remained a beloved cultural landmark for over a century. Throughout its 112-year history, the cinema has changed names and undergone several reconstructions, yet always kept its spirit. In 2020, a major restoration returned the building to its historic form, reviving it as a home for film festivals and premieres once again.
